Great pictures of a great loco. I know very little about steam stuff, but the metal on the running gear? Looks polished. Very nice, usually covered in black gunge AFAIK.

Good photos in what looks like tricky lighting . I can remember making an Airfix plastic model of that loco when I was a kid. Nostalgia even then (all electric where I lived), even greater nostalgia now.

Thanks for your comments. I had an Airfix model of Evening Star too. These were taken when the loco was at Locomotion in County Durham - last time I saw it it was in NRM in York.

Superb images, I saw Evening Star being built at Swindon and in its' splendour when it left the works in pristine condition.
