espio 928 error code u7

just had this error code appear (flashing) when camera turned on.
zoom lens goes out to full extension, and camera will not respond to anything. New battery tried.

any clues?........local "chain" store quoted £80 plus without even looking at it.

This code definately refers to a zooming fault and not surprisingly Pentax recommend sending it in for repair.
The current charges are £25, £50 and £75 and you can expect yours to cost £50 (less discount for club membership if you have it).
