My K100D seems to have a minor problem. It shows 999 images available on top screen regardless of the size of the card or the number of photos I've taken. Anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?
Cheers

i think the k100 was set up to take only 2GB cards. when you use 4GB it will show 999 in the top plate

The part of the display that shows remaining images on a card has only 3 characters. Depending on the size of card and the selected image quality, you can easily exceed the maximum displayable figure of 999.

Mannesty makes a good point.

May also be worth checking you have the latest firmware as Pentax did release an update that upgraded the K100D to cope with SDHC (i.e >2Gb cards). It was version 1.01 that introduced this update but think the last firmware was 1.02 (they are cumulative so you only need to get the latest one). To check your firmware version you hold down the menu button whilst you switch the camera on and it will display in the centre of the screen.

Version 1.02 can be found here along with instructions:
