Epson Printers

Hi All,

After several years of very good use, my trusty Photo 870 printer is giving problems. Looking around for a replacement, I was tempted by the R800. Although a bit pricey, it looks superb on paper with extra colours and gloss enhancement, matt black ink etc. Has anyone either used one who heard of any good reports of them?

Many Thanks
Kim

I like my Epson 1270. They have newer models out now and don't know how good those are.

We are using the 890 (A4) and the 1290s (A3) and both give excellent results.
Best regards, John

I have an Epson C63 which is great on plain paper and uses pigment inks with individual cartridges -low ink costs. The secret feature which does not show up in reviews is- 5760 Optimised dpi resolution using Resolution Performance Management Technology. This mouthful is available when you select EPSON DURABrite Photo Paper which also works well for Ilford Gallerie.
Two options are now revealed in advanced photo mode. RPM for slow but very fine printing and ICM for great colour accuracy. I think it equals the Epson 2100 which I also use.

Cheers Pierre

Thanks for the replies. I have always been a fan of epson since the first Stylus Color. It's just that the R200 is £100 and the R800 is £300. I awasn't sure wether it is worth paying the 3 times the price for the extra inks and finisher.
Regards
Kim
