Nice idea, I like the texture that is revealed.

Not really my area of expertise, but just a thought: they seem almost overexposed at the top and I find the lack of any detail in the dark area directly in front a bit distracting. I can see you used natural light to light these. So maybe underexpose a bit and add a reflector next to your shooting position to bring a little bit of detail to the front. This would still give you a graduated lighting effect and so retain the form of the subject.
