eBay scam

I think I have come across a scam whilst selling a piece of Pentax kit on eBay; I received an offer for the asking price and then the buyer asked to contact me by email for “further information” to which I rather foolishly responded. He/she three times tried to persuade me to bypass the eBay payment system by paying me directly - if I give them details of my PayPal or bank. I refused and haven’t heard anything since. As eBay users here will know, such an arrangement would lead to closure of my eBay account but more importantly it looks like an attempt to elicit financial information for fraudulent purposes.

Had the same thing when I sold my K-3 III and K-1 ... strangely not when I sold the Sony A9 and Nikon D500

Obviously a scammer with taste (or he thinks all Pentax users are mugs)

Same here. In the end I had a long communication with the eBay scam team who shutdown the scammers account. I treat all 'unknown' email approaches with great caution. It's regrettable that one has to do that now.

Just don't get me started on those (expletive deleted) toe-rags who try to take advantage of the vulnerable.
