E7 message on Zoom 70-X

Posted 01/04/2005 - 21:39 Link
This is my first visit and my first post, so apologies if this a question which crops up regularly, but my Zoom 70-X is giving an 'E7' message when trying to take a picture, which doesn't seem to be referenced in the manual.

Id be grateful if anyone can advise what the problem is and the potential solution(s).

Many Thanks.

I received a reply from Pentax, who said "E7", an error code, indicates a shutter function error, and requires a technician's inspection.

Has anyone any advice as to the best way to have this looked at, and what the likely cost might be. I live in the Blackpool (Lancs) area.

Thanks.

The standard service cost is around £50.
Pentax are not accepting some older models so you'd better check with them before sending it off.
You could also try: http://www.harrowtechnical.co.uk/our_services.html

You could probably pick up a new camera for little more than the cost of repair or a really nice higher spec model for peanuts from eBay (I recently won a 280P for about £13 inc. p+p from the states - turned out to be the dateback version too! :wink

Just in case you wanted the exact same model:

Die my dear doctor, that's the last thing I shall do!

Thanks - very helpful.
I think I'm going to write the 70-X off and look at the sort of options you suggest.
