Durham Regatta

It was Durham's annual regatta at the weekend with teams entering from a wide area of the North.
Several members of Durham Photographic Society had passes to snap away, and we'll be providing shots for Durham Rowing Club's website.
Mine were mostly taken on the K3 with a DA*200mm lens. A few were on the K5 with the DA*50-135mm lens.
The K3 was set at 1000 ISO and the K5 at 800 ISO.

Great set, David. Sharp and colourful candids.
Best wishes,

Andrew

A good set David. I'm surprised at the turn out though, three spactators and you!

Best regards

Nice David, I may be spending a bit more time in Durham after the summer if daughter gets the required A level grades as she has an offer from the uni.

That brings back memories of my youth... I rowed a bit (badly!) when I was a student at Durham and even coxed for practice (far too much of a lump to cox for a race even then).

Oh, and btw, lovely set!

Best wishes, Kris.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I like the steps - great graphic image with humour and balance. although the trainers have their place in the narrative, I would crop a little tighter to remove them. I had a little play here and made it contrasty b/w with darker steps to enphasize that element. Happy to show you if you're interested.

Thanks for all your comments.
Mark: I was concerned at the lack of contrast in the steps picture and considered mono which I may yet do. I haven't had much time yet to play with them as I was rushing out the images to get them over to Durham Rowing Club.
I'd be happy to see your version. I deliberately left in the trainers but I agree they are too peripheral to add much to the story.

Yes that's good Mark. I'll have to do a mono version.
