Dumb Nikon User
this may seem far fetched to Nikon and Canon devotees, but consider this
Sony have bought out Konica Minolta and Samsung have bought out Pentax. The resources of these electronic giants is vast compared to Canon or Nikon, and you can be sure they havn't moved into photography for fun; they will be intent on carving out a major market share by competitive pricing and technical innovation.
It has already started; they have both introduced anti-shake into their bodies, so avoiding the massive expense you Canon and Nikon fans incur when buying IS or VR lenses.
Sony manufactures its own sensors and Samsung has the resources to do so too. In future they will be able to get the latest sensors in their cameras first before filtering them down to other manufacturers
Dumb Nikon user.
oxymoron.
Pentax Lenses: DA16-45|DA50-200|50A 1.7
Tamron Lenses: 28-200
Takumar Lenses: SMC 55 1.8
Sigma Lenses: EX DG 50-500 'Bigma'|EX 50mm Macro
Flashes: Metz 58 AF-1|Samsung SEF-36PZF|Pentax AF-220T
The end of Canon and Nikon is nigh....Sony have bought out Konica Minolta....
I've seen Sony's line-up and it looks impressive, but saying that, I don't know what Minolta's line-up was like. Sony knows what they are doing and how to market stuff. After all, despite being the under dog, they broke into the video-game market destroying Nintendo's dominance. So, yes, watch out Canon and Nikon (and even Pentax), Sony is coming

LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.
Every single camera brand has lots of dumb users..it is just that Pentax has old dumb users and Nikon & Canon have young dumb users....
So how old do you think us Pentax Users are?
Pentax wisely kept backwards compatability, something Nikon and the copier-company have not done.
I suspect the K10D is going to create quite an uproar in the C and N camps!
Interesting point raised about the age of Pentax users though.

....and the copier-company ....
Just an interesting point though, when I was at college, I was one of two people that had a Pentax. The general feeling was that Pentax is 'Not as good as it use to be' and 'Canon is the best'. It doesn't matter if theses comments are right or wrong. What is important is the general feeling about Pentax and if theses two comments represent the general feelings, bye bye Mr Pentax from the camera world.
..........VERY old......
cheers Steve...
.........and I thought Nikon has backwards compatibility with the F mount....
I heard an archive BBC interview recently (1963ish I think) and David Bailley was asked what qualities a photographer needed, he listed three:
be rude to everyone
wear a leather jacket
buy a Pentax camera
There was a time when 'a Pentax' meant any kind of quality camera in the same way as 'hoover' and 'biro' entered the language
