The bigger male mallard was forcing the smaller male underwater and pushed his poor head down with his beak.

Fear not, the little fella escaped the clutches of the larger eventually!

fantastic capture Chirpy!

Malards can be evil. Sometimes I suspect they intentionally engage in excessive antics to make up for the fact that they are so common.

you're going to have me down the building society taking out a mortgage for one of those lenses at this rate!
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Poor duck! Excellent shot Chirpy, looks as sharp as the duck looks worried.

You just don't expect ducks to have expressions.

Wonderful shot.

Like others, perhaps I need to start saving for that lens and forget about a replacement zoom.

Great photo!

At least there wasn't a poor female underneath them both! I have seen ducks drowned by the sheer weight of drakes on top of her. Nasty things mallards.

What is this? Highschool? for ducks?
Makes me feel like I should find an old yearbook...track down some people...and apologise....but that seems like a lot of work...
nice shot.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

What a shot!

Almost reminds me of a time in the swimming pool a few years back -

Excellent capture - that 300 sure seems to be the one to get for wildlife photos....

How much is that in UK pounds :

You had better ask Chirpy about how you find goldmines, there must be a few still 'down under'

Its about 970quid off the top of my head. They have only arrived on our shores and the very few stores that have them are charging premium prices for it.

All our goldmines are mined out im afraid. well the one under my house is anyway
