Hi all,

I'm after some advice if possible and apologies if this is in the wrong forum, im a new user and this is my first post/request for info.

Anyone out there heard of/used an iPhone app called DSLRBOT ? preferably on a K-X camera.

If so, does it work properly with this model of camera, do you have access to things like zoom, bulb mode etc etc ?

Thanks in advance

You would not be able to control zoom even if it worked as zoom lenses are not motorized. Pentax once produced some powerzoom lenses but it never really took off.

The link above shows supported cameras and features. Really it is just an expensive IR remote so you can't do much with it.

You are probably better off getting a Pentax IR remote or trying tethering.

Welcome to the forum Peter.

I can see why this sort of app. may be appealing but cant think of any circumstances where it would be really useful unless you want it for some form of surveylance.

+1 for Dans suggestion.

Hi all and thanks for the replies.

I was looking into it as a cheap(er) means of using a remote control. Ive looked at local camera shops and the cheapest i can find the ir remote controls is nearly £40. this software is £2.99 and the components for making the ir transmitter are approx £5.

Im looking to use it mainly for use with bulb mode and as the K-X doesnt have a cable release option this was the cheapest option.

Ill look into the tethering option (not sure at the moment what that is but will google it now)

thanks again for the replies

Check ebay Peter for compatible remotes. Mine cost about £7. Same as this one link

Hi Alan

Thanks for that link, I'd been looking at a similar one but found out that none of them support bulb mode.

is it safe to assume that this one does ?

thanks

Just checked it for you.

There are two modes in the K-x menu system for using a remote with bulb

1. Press remote to start exposure. Press remote to end exposure
2. Press remote anf keep it pressed for entire length of exposure. Release to end the exposure

The remote works with option 1, no problem. But not with option 2.
