Dream collection

Dream collection?

The new body tba soon, assuming it is as good as everyone hopes. Otherwise a K7. This dream will come true.

For the rest I am happy with my current collection of lenses.
Maybe I'd swap my 17-70 for a 16-50* just to have the set of * zooms.

Possibly the 100mm WR instead of the Tamron 90mm.

And a real dream lens? A 250-500* Are you listening Pentax?

Now where did I put that lottery ticket .

If you are looking for a macro lens then have a look for a 2nd hand Tamron 90mm. A great lens for a good price. You will only need a small lottery win for that one .

Another vote for the DFA 100mm macro from me. Having said that, the 35mm DA Ltd macro is a beaut, although in macro terms I find it works best for stationary things you can get close to..., like flowers, rather than small scaredy things like bugs...

Dream four lens set up? That is a tough one. If forced to choose now I would probably go with the K7 and DA 21 ltd, DA 35 ltd, DA* 50-135, and DA* 200... am I allowed to also slip in a 1.5X teleconverter? ... (and a 540 flash while I think about it...)

Ask me tomorrow and the answer will probably be different...

Regards
Mat W

As far as macro goes, I don't think you can go far wrong with any of the 90-100mm macros!

Dream set up might be:
(K5?)
DA15ltd
FA31ltd
DFA100mmWR
DA*60-250

I'd probably also get an 18-55mm WR to fill in the gaps a bit and complement the (K5?)'s weather sealing. I'd be prepared to dig into my own pockets for that!

In that case, get a 645D and set of rare special edition FALtd lenses, and then you can sell them and get everything you want... + a yacht

The rule was Pentax only
There is the FA43 limited in the Leica mount though

K7, DA 12-24mm, FA 31, FA 43, DA* 50-135mm.

It was real hard choice between the 50-135mm and the FA77... If there was something like a DA* 18mm TS lens I'd go for that but Pentax don't appear to have released that one yet.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Pentax only and four lenses? That's easy.

Pentax 645D
PENTAX-D FA 645 55mm F2.8 AL[IF] SDM AW
SMC Pentax-FA 645 35mm F3.5
SMC Pentax-FA 645 120mm F2.8 Macro
SMC Pentax-FA* 645 300mm f/4 ED [IF] AF

Or, perhaps,
Pentax K-7
DA 12-24 ED AL (IF)
FA 43mm F1.9 Limited
FA 77mm F1.8 Limited
A* 200mm F4 Macro ED [IF]

Assuming we're sticking to the K-mount APS-C SLRs (ie no 645Ds in the 'money no object' contest), then I would have the following:

Pentax K5 (assuming that the Other Forum's 'leaked' specs are correct)

Sigma 10-20 (realise you said 'all Pentax' but I simply wouldn't be without this)

DA*16-50 (hey if money is no object I can buy a new one when the SDM breaks )

FA77 Limited

DFA100 Macro WR

Of course I already have two of these (the Macro in its Samsung non-WR guise), so now the FA77 and fast standard zoom* to go!

*Which will likely not be a 16-50, since I don't have a bottomless lens-replacement money pit!

If it's all Pentax and money is no object then it would be the K5, DA12-24, FA31, DA50-135, and DA300.

Unfortunately I live in rip-off Britain, and money is indeed an object, so I don't own any of these lenses

Ha! I didn't even see you posted exactly the same list. I guess great minds think alike? Having a 645N with two lenses I can be extra confident that these lenses are good.
