Dragonflies with CIF

Used catch-in-focus for the first time yesterday.
Quite pleased with the outcome but would appreciate comments from others, particularly those with experience with CIF.

All k5, 150-500 @500.
TAV mode.
+1.5 exp. compensation.

Must admit I only use CIF for macro but you seem to been quite successful here. Only thing I would say is that (imo) for this type of shot to work you need the focus to be on the head/eye area and I don't think you are quite there.

I have only tried shooting dragonflys in flight once and found the best way was to prefocus on a certain area (as they seem to keep to the same flying pattern) and shoot around f8 or so to get as much of it in focus as possible. It's also probably easier to do with something like the 300mm f4 prime.

Are they quite heavy crops?

Nice. Ive never managed to get CIF to work on dragonflies in flight, but I've not really tried that much. May have to have another go...
