Very nice set Gary ! Classic pose for #1 but I really like the Ruddy Darter too. What is the minimum focusing distance for that Sigma ?

i love the first image, really sharp and great colours. That Sigma 500mm lens is very interesting.

That lens looks like one heck of a sharp piece of kit Gary. The focus on these shots is stunning and they also seem to have a fair amount of Depth of Field. Some of the best Dragonfly / Butterfly shots I've seen in a while.

When shooting Butterflies/Dragonflies or anything small/close I alway stop down a bit.

Very nice indeed.
I found a good place for Darters last year - Dersingham Bog - and I am looking forward to another couple of visits there this summer. I spent a whole afternoon honing my stalking skills, to the point where I was able to get close enough to fill the frame with the DA35mm Macro Limited. Any closer and the lens hood would have been poking them in the eye.
The DA*300mm is also a superb Dragonfly and Butterfly lens given it's relatively close focusing.
They do make a lovely subject though and are one of my favoutite creatures, thanks for sharing.
