you've been spoiled by that Vivitar of yours! I know what it's like, once you've seen what a true macro lens is capable of you'll never be satisfied with a zoom at minimum focus distance again!

Yes you are right, I have got so used to the sharpness of the macro lens that using the zoom it just doesn't seem to look 100%
I would have been very happy with that photo a couple of months ago when I started.
The only thing I will say is that it being an auto focus lens allowed me to get the shot as it only settled for seconds whereas my macro lenses are both manual focus and I wouldn't have had time to get it.
Maybe it's time to look for a AF macro lens rather than upgrade to the K20D.
