Worth a read. Also the girls portrait, in images, is taken with the new SDM 55mm 1.4.So there are one or two flying around.T.

Apparently the 55mm lenses that are about at the moment are pre-production ones, so perhaps not trull representative of the production version, but I still want to have a play with one.

I'm reading it now but what is a Power Lamp???
it's on page 10 of the review and it has the settings:
1: Std
2: Weak
3: Off

is it just the simple lamp that's on when the power is on?

I think so. A quick look at the down-loaded manual shows that the power light is just behind the on/off switch. It is a sort of rectangle with rounded corners. You can see it in the review pictures.

I'm assuming that the power light is necessary because there is no LCD panel on the top of the camera.

The manual does not seem to say why you might want to dim the power light but I guess it is to help battery performance and possibly to stop it being annoying in the dark.
