Hi all
Can you down load your images from the card on to two different laptops.
I know you can not down load twice to your own laptop as i tried this by mistake when i forgot to format the card after down loading.
I will be taking some family photos and would like to down load them to there laptop and to my own when i arrive home
Cheers

You can use a card reader and copy the files to one laptop as many times as you like, or indeed to as many computers as you like.

The only think that will probably stop you copying over the pictures twich might be if you connect the camera directly and have it set to automatically download. It might realise it's done the job once and not opt to do it twice.
Best regards, John

Provided you don't erase the files and folders on the card, you can upload the images to as many pc's as you like.

Thanks all
I down load the images using a card reader and use windows photo library to store them, my be if you try to down load the same images twice it recognizes them and wont down load, it down loaded the rest of the images i had taken after the ones i had allready down loaded but had forgotten to delete, hope this makes sense.
I thought you would be able to down load to different laptops but wanted to make sure.
Cheers

Dave - the "structure" of the images are as follows:

your camera creates an image file (let's call it DSCF0001). The file has to be stored in a folder, so typically, the folder is usually given a date name* (*if you switch your camera off, then shoot a new set of images, the date name gets allocated a unique name, 19082012-1, for example). You now upload these images to your pc. at this point, your pc has never "met" these files, so it "invites" them to a space on your pc, usually in the MY PHOTOS folder. Provided you do not already have a folder/folders with the same name, folder 19082012-1 and containing DSCF0001 will be copied there. If you then attempt to upload the same folder onto the same pc, you will usually be told that this folder already exists, and offers you the chance to overwrite the existing folder, duplicating the image(s) within that folder on your card, or to cancel. Provided you have not told the computer to wipe the card after importing the images, they remain on the card, unaltered. You can then upload those exact-same folders and images to as many other computers as you little heart desires - whether it be 1, 100, or even 1,000,000!

Hopefully I've explained it in a way that's clearly understood - sobriety plays havoc with my one remaining active braincell, I'm afraid!
