Doe a Deer

What a wonderful experience it was to have them so (relatively) close. I'm sure the pictures don't do them justice. It's taken me five years to get these pictures! (probably didnt try hard enough) they are just up the hill from me.

Great shots, you have tremendous patience, well worth the wait. What gear did you use for these?
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

Very nice - great shot and a lesson to us all in terms of patience

Don't mean to mislead anyone, when I say I've waited five years to get these I mean its just taken that time to actually have them within range of the 55-300. I go up the hill for a walk almost once a week and invariably have a different lens on when I see them or they are not in range. They are VERY skittish and appear to have excellent sight and smell, probably to avoid getting shot!!

I think I was just lucky in the right place at the right time with the right lens on and was down wind of them with the slight breeze from them to me.

Thanks everyone its encouraged me to go out more purposefully to see if I can get some better ones of them, I'd almost given up on it.
