Discussion for Weekly Competition #319 - Quintessential Holiday Snap

Here is the pace for any discussion on weekly competition #319 - Quintessential Holiday Snap.

I know that “Holiday” has appeared in these competitions before but it is that time of year in the UK and I would like to put a slightly different slant on it.

Years ago I would have taken just one or, occasionally two, rolls of film with me on holiday and therefore would have been very choosy about what I shot. Of the results perhaps just a small handful would be shown around to friends and family. Nowadays I can easily take hundreds of shots many of which never get shown around to avoid the risk of boring people to death.

So for this competition I want to see a typical holiday picture that in one image sums up a holiday and obviously one you would be proud to show around. I think holiday snaps are invariably opportunistic so it does not have to be perfectly executed but it should have an essence of “we were there and enjoying ourselves”.

The usual rules apply. Entries must be shot with a Pentax, or the re-badged Samsung equivalent. You can raid your archives but please lets not see anything that has appeared in the previous competitions.

As is traditional I will stop looking in here once the first entry has been posted.

Good luck,

Glyn

I thought we waited until the judge passed his comments?

Glyn is a highly competent judge so he won't be influenced by anything we write here. Also its an unwritten rule that judges don't visit this thread once the entries start coming in.

Tradition has it that the judge doesn't look here

Oh gosh. I left this thread after the first entry was submitted soon after I had set up the competition and have just crept back in here to say that the results have been posted.

Certainly not influenced by this thread I am however happy to find I am in agreement with Ken about Andrew's image .

Thanks to everyone that entered. It is a great collection of images and I found the judging unusually difficult.
