posted this in the general photography section but realised it was probably the wrong section.

Found this whilst inspecting the lens. how does this get in there and should i be worried about the fact that has got in there? could it be affecting the focusing? How can I remove it?

i have had the lens for less than a year so could i just send it back to Tamron or Adorama where i bought it

It's common for the odd speck of dust to get into a lens, but I don't know what those white spots are. Assuming they are not just reflections, I would worry about them. That's not normal.

Small isolated particles or stains in the lens would only slightly affect image quality, and not always to a noticeable degree. If anything, you'd just see a reduction in sharpness. Focusing as such would not be affected.

Disassembly is a professional job.

Sod the dirt, how did that long hair get in there!

My advice: contact Tamron first, and then arrange to get the lens looked at.

You can get small specks of dust inside a lens, especially zoom lenses that can "suck" in air as you extend the lens. But a hair, and those white specks...!

The trouble is, they may view it as unfair wear-and-tear (for example, leaving the lens in a warm damp environment may encourage fungus spores - that's not the manufacturer's fault). So phone them up, talk nicely to them, and ask what they can do first

The white marks look like bubbles in the glass - quite common in Russian optics, but I've never seen any in a Japanese lens :

Many thanks for your comments. And when I meant dirt I did mean the hair and the white marks which both happen to be under the top glass. I am still not sure if the presence of the dirt somehow affected the focusing or if there is more dirt elsewhere affecting the optics.

I will try and contact Tamron first and if I don't get any joy I will contact Adorama.
