JR,

This was my point: "I personally believe it is most unlikely that the 750Z can produce all-round results anywhere near as good as what is possible on a DSLR. Just measuring digitally-enhanced sharpness is no way to evaluate lens performance."

Note the "all-round".

If you say the 750 has better resolution than other lenses you have tried on your DS, then I have to believe you. However, resolution is not the only factor to consider in assessing lens quality, and therefore picture quality.

And I don't know, but I imagine that every image coming out of the 750 has been digitally sharpened, just as they are on most Canons.

Thanks for all the comments, all appreciated.

Testing lenses properly is a very complex process indeed, but an impression can be gained at least.

For me, the result is that I will be happy to use the 750Z for use when it's not appropriate to carry the DSLR kit, but the latter is far more versatile and has, as you say, other qualities that are as important as resolution.

I'm pretty happy with the way my digital Pentaxes are operating!
Best regards, John
