All Pentax detachable lenses ever made for any format save 110 will work on a Pentax DSLR, although some will require adapters.
The ones which won't require adapters are the K bayonet lenses. If you didn't already know it your camera is a K bayonet camera, so your lens will work.
Of the K bayonet lenses, those with the M suffix, or no suffix, will only work in manual mode. "A" lenses (like yours) and later will work in any mode.
The compatibility of Pentax cameras and lenses is one of Pentax's great strengths. No other make comes close. Given also that over the years Pentax has made more really good lenses than any other manufacturer, and you will see why Pentax has a fervent following.
Pentax cameras and lenses are made by Asahi Optical Company, which, as the name suggests, is a company that specialises in optics. They don't make photocopiers, and are therefore not tarnished by the dubious ethical standards of those manufacturers that do. If they get a good review, they will have earned it. If some other makes get a good review, you'll often find that they "support" the site/magazine in question.

I have a film SLR A3 Pentax, but I'm wanting to get an slr digital camera. Any chance my Pentax-A lens will work on a Pentax digital?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love takeing pictures but find some of the technology totally baffling.
