Having taken i-Berg's advice. I present you with these magnificent images of five year old Adidas Sambas!

These ones are long worn out. Filthy, battered, holed and falling apart. And they smell... indescribably!. But I cannot bring myself to throw them away. This pair are special.
I bought these ones shortly before going to Australia. They are very well travelled. They have plodded the streets of Kuala Lumpar, while waiting for a connecting flight. They spent many happy days with family in Adelaide, then they went for a bit of a wander around that great country.
They have been down an opal mine in Coober pedy. Plodded around the streets and along the dry Todd river bed in Alice Springs. They were on my feet when I stared in total amazement at Ayres rock (or Uluru, as we should now call it). They even wanted to climb it, which is technically allowed, but it pisses off the local Aborigines, for whom it is a holy place.
I and they, together, walked all around Sydney, and and spent two wonderful days on Bondi beach. (there are still a few grains of sand in them, to this day). They paced through the Painted desert of South Australia. They suffered with me on a miserable 20 hour train journey, from Alice Springs, back to Adelaide, on a train with inadequate air conditioning, That moved so slowly that we could have got off and run along side, quicker! And all this, having to sit next to an asthmatic Korean, who insisted on coughing and wheezing the whole way!

Best of all, these very shoes were with me in St Kilda, Melbourne. St Kilda is the closest thing they have to a seedy neighbourhood, and so, it has a bit of charachter. I spent some of my happiest days, there.

So, I will keep this pair because we did a lot together, and they bring to mind great memories, whenever I see them.

Holey soles Batman!!

Well done Mowog, that is a ripper story to go with them. Fancy all of that being recalled now. An abstracted shot of the worn soles might be a 'fitting' part of the series too...
