Hadn't had my K10d out for a while, but used a sigma 28-300mm film lens to capture this deer at the weekend

Very nice. Just goes to show you don't need the latest and greatest to get something good (just don't tell the missus )

The K10D is/was probably a better camera in some respects than the K20D or even the K7, so no you don't need the latest

I still have my K10D, it's very "dear" to me

Nice shot Brian, good choice of aperture.
My Names Alan, and I'm a lensaholic.

A great image. As Alan says, the K10D is better than a K20 or K7. It has a CCD. I also still have mine.

Best regards

And a lovely capture it is too, nice.

My K10 is still my first choice camera and I use it constantly. If some money came my way it might spend more time on the shelf as I would have no hesitation in buying another Pentax DSLR.

I love my K10D too. I only bought it as a stop-gap, but it does everything I want well enough so I don't have any buring desire to get a current model - although a better LCD and live-view would be nice!

What a cute deer how could anyone hunt such a beautiful creature? makes me sad that people want to hurt such an animal in the name of sport

Not just sport, I felt guilty eating a Venison Burger a couple of weeks ago

What makes me sad isn't the deer that is shot for food having had a relatively good life but all those battery chickens et al sentenced to a life of misery to provide our food supply.

But I fear we're about to get a yellow card for wandering off topic here so I'll say no more.

Deerie me, how did he/she let you get so close. Great shot (with camera I meant)

That's a beautiful close up on the head. We have a lot in the forest round here, but I have never yet managed to catch one on camera.
