I wouldn't worry about Curry not stocking Pentax. They have never stocked Pentax in Scotland and are really only a Canon/Nikon outlet.

I must admit, I have never thought once about going to currys to buy any camera kit. So maybe there lays the problem

I went into Currys for something else and looked at the camera stands and picked up a K30 and walked out with it and have never regretted it.
I don't rate them a all as a camera shop but sometimes things just work out well. I do not know much about camera shops but standing there listening to people getting crap advice from some staff makes me cringe.

I don't think bad advice is just at electronic store's I was in jessops once and had to listen to a salesman tell me that more megapixels on a compact camera made it brilliant for night time shots

I am only a snapper really but had some fun when I went to purchase a Pentax K3 and tested the salesmen telling them first I think Nikon / then maybe new Fuji and every time they just agreed with me and told me that was the best.... took a few minutes to consider all there advice then told them I had decided to buy a Pentax K3,
It was all good fun.

In Walsall, many years ago.....

Cequip, which Jessops took over (and has now closed)- chap asks about the Olympus OM30 (I think) and asks about the ESP metering- member of staff explains that it is Extra Sensory Perception metering!

I couldn't see that one coming!

Currys at Wednesbury today,
35mm 2.4 £39
50-200 mm £59

I was tempted by the 35mm as a spare coz I already have one but did not in the end , for anyone who wants a fantastic bargain this is the one.
Dave.
Wandered into my local Currys in Hayes today to see what they had:
- 35 2.4 £79.97
- 50-200 (not sure which version as the lens cap was on) £99.97
(and nothing else Pentax)

So no bargains there

Also, took a look at their website last night and no Pentax gear was listed at all as far as I could see - so really does look like no more Pentax at Currys.

OTOH, that's where I picked up the K-30 at a very good price some months ago when they were remaindering those
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

So true, but strange about Currys pricing, yesterday at the Wednesbury branch, I picked up a few 35mm f2.4 for £39.99 and a demo one for £29.99 and a 50-200mm WR for £59.99.

Today I thought I would try my local branch, but they had the 35mm f2.4 for £99.99 and the 50-200mm WR for £149.99, still cheaper then anywhere else, but when I questioned a member of staff, I just had a shrug of the shoulders and was told that's the price:

Errr Yes But I have kept the demo one for myself but in all fairness it's new and boxed, and also keeping the 50-200mm, my father in law is having a 35mm for Father's Day, but don't tell him

I also didn't want to offer them on here as like everyone I want to make a profit of sorts, mainly having to sit in a traffic jam from junction 12 to 9 on the M6 yesterday to collect them, and I suffer from guilt trips.

No problem with that - I can suffer the same thing!

They were still there at 19:00 ! there are two 50-200s on display and both are the DA WR versions not the DAL.

TWO PentaxIan's in this part of London - wonders will never cease

PS I saw only one 50-200 in one case and the 35 2.4 in the next one - so where was the third? (not that I want any of them - at least not at those prices - because I already have a 35 2.4, a 55-300 and quite a few other lenses :rollOtherwise I might have done the same thing as MattyH :lol

PS2 - or were you talking of the PC World near the White Hart roundabout as I was talking about the one on the Uxbridge Rd into Southall?
