TAv has its place.

Impressive work Pete - especially with only 300mm to play with - yet a again proof that the 55-300 is a great little lens.

Very nice. If I was to hazard a couple of minor comments, I'd say that timing-wise, the second one (is it a Dakota?) would have been better just a shade earlier, which would have given you more wing and fuselage detail. Leading edge shots leave me wanting to see a little more.
The shot of the Bristol and Fokker has got good detail, but it suffers from the impersonal feel you get when the cockpits are entirely out of view. Tricky to light well when they're overhead so that's worked well.
I like the Vampire very much, though. Lovely with the sunlight on it, and perfectly exposed for the aeroplane, not the sky behind.

I agree about having more of that deletable DC3 wing profile on display. I quite like the knife like view here, makes me want to map the trajectory and worry
I wondered what was missing in the biplanes... evidence of occupancy!
I thought I munted it a bit with too much shadow lift.
As for the vampire expose ( thx for your comment Nippy , I was very happy with the TAv with +.7
was trying to capture some atmospheric shot I saw once decades ago of the Whittle Glouster

Superb shots with the 55-300 - it is a great lens but it's not easy to use it to such devastating effect as you have here. As George points out, it is more to do with the person behind the camera as it is to do with the lens.
