So - having just taken delivery of the DA*300 - the lens I thought I would never own - which is the best TC to use with this lens?

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

I have to agree, I've tried them all and this is definitely the best.

I don't have this combo, but I do use the HD Pentax-DA AF Rear Converter 1.4x AW with the DA*60-250 and it's the best converter on that lens by a mile

Don't buy anything other than the HD Pentax DA AF 1.4, it is utterly brilliant.

Would the HD Pentax DA AF 1.4 AW be equally as good on the DA*200mm lens? If so this could be on my future shopping list.

I see no reason why not David, it is superb on any good lens, including the DA 100 WR F2.8 macro. It is less reliable on a zoom such as the DA55-300, but only because of the F4 max aperture on this lens which hampers the focussing. On a F2.8 lens it is magic.

David, if you would like to run a test with your lens you can try mine if it helps.

I used to own the DA*200mm, it was a great lens, but i often wished i had more reach although I could not justify the price of the DA*300mm. However, when I saw the lens price on amazon, i could not resist.

Just a few taken today with the new Pentax DA*300mm and the HD 1x4 TC, really pleased with the DA*300, but pairing it with the HD 1x4 TC is a perfect harmony if you need more reach.
