Like a lot of people I was a bit wary of buying this lens after reading the Photozone review, but after reading a few user reviews I decided to take the risk.

I must say I'm glad I took the risk, after a couple of days of owning this lens I'm really happy with it.
I do supply stock libraries so have to do some pixel peeping and after looking at the images I've taken with the 18-135mm I think they'll have no problem getting through the stock libraries QC.

The 18-135mm range is very handy, the AF is quiet and fast, it,s a real joy to use this lens.

Here's a few images after just 2 days of owning the lens. First two images show the 18-135mm range, there's no award winning photos but I think they can show what the lens can do.

Yes - I'm really enjoying using mine. Whilst in the USA I took stuff of a type that was new to me , that I would not have tried before [ the Church interior ], and got what to me were very pleasing results.

I totally agree Steve - that Photozone review has probably deterred quite a few people from buying what is actually a very competent lens. We need to be wary of Photozone reviews, and instead rely much more on users' comments and the evidence of their photos. This lens not only has the qualities you list and evident in your images but, being WR, it is also a pleasure to be able to use it in all weathers.

Cheers.

Mine spends more time on the camera that any other single lens, and I'd agree with all that everyone above has said. It's a super lens, extremely competent and good value and it's WR!

Hmm..

I'd been tempted a number of times but I've always chickened out at the final click

I've pixel peeped people's shots on Flickr - the boring full size ones of uninspired streets, tedious landscapes, back yards, weddings and animals, not the hand picked, oversharpened, downscaled and pp'd to death ones - and I keep seeing fuzzy corners, plenty of CA and lack of micro-contrast.

I remain undecided.

I have a selection of lenses including 21,40,70mm ltds, DA* 300mm & DA*60-250mm to compare this lens with and think it does a good job, like any zoom lens it has it's limitations.

I have sharper faster lenses but I will be leaving them at home when I go on holiday now. As a weather resistant, travel lens with my K3 or K5 the 18-135mm WR can't be beat!

Generally I think it is a good lens, particularly when stopped down to f5.6-8. I have been a bit dissapointed with it at 18mm though (even stopped down). And wide open mine is a bit flaky across most of the range. Still a useful lens in good light.
