These shots are stunning. Make me want to start seriously considering the 100mm macro. .

I browsed your gallery on the website and some fantastic stunning pics there. I liked quite a few, and just glancing through the red butterfly was absolutely wonderful. Quite a nice gallery there, could easily spend some time browsing and I will go back to do that soon I come back. Rushing out for my training session but expect back some comments soon I go and have a look through again comfortably . I may be a very inexperienced rookie in the field still but I know a nice picture when I see one . Well done.

Love all the above ones, the bird being my favourite one .

btw this one is straight out of the camera link it's in adobe-rgb so on the internet the colours arent right but you can see how sharp it is.
I think you also see clearly the difference between the 50mm and the rest of your lenses or not?

I'm also busy to get the method of sharpening right in Gimp, I'm using a method that Matt have explained and it works great for me so it will help you too I believe

Some extra information the bird is only very slighty cropped what you see is 90% of the photo

Yes thats the one. The colours are great and it just stands out with the orangie patterns.

WOW, I just saw the pic on the link straight out of the camera, and I am overly impressed. You know what? Now I am seriously considering the lens, and when I mean seriously I mean SERIOUSLY like this afternoon. If those details stand out that way its definitely what I want from a lens.

Just help me out here, at what distance physically were you from the vulture and butterfly when you took these pics? I am an absolutely newbie in macro aspects but its something that I would love to dedicate myself into, so I would like to have a perspective of physical distances from the subjects please. And yes I am inclined towards the 100mm rather than the 50mm one after reading some suggestions in some other threads.

And yes I would love to see your other pics also straight from the camera. Boy... you are going to be responsible in me burning a £350 hole in my wallet. Well I guess if I have to do it I better do it now so that I get the £50 cashback.

Have you bought it already?
you will like it though and after this you want a DA* 300 I think but flash might be a better choice though.

you might wanna take a look at this link you can download the full version on deviantart but I've photoshoped it, although most of it is blurring because the lens is too sharp for this sort of thing.
