Since Pentax decided that we no longer need Remote Assistant with K-7/5 I don't really see the reason to get one.And as for the AC power supply ..... un-****ing-believable!!!
But we are drifting away from the topic.
But this reminded me of another reason why I use battery grip.
I do a lot of time-lapse films and having two batteries instead of just one helps a lot.

Well that's why I was going to say an AC supply is useful.Smeggypants wrote:

But then you don't always have an AC supply handy for every time lapse scene
I suppose one could rig up a dummy battery with either an AC power supply or a large capacity battery connected to the terminals and insert it with the battery door open

I haven't bought ONE lens brand new since 1986. The only new item I bought for my current kit was a K-5 body from SRS.

Some of us, sadly, are old enough o have bought manual lenses when they were new, and when not only Ebay but the internet too were unimaginable. All my AF lenses I bought brand new, and all manual ones, used.
But all the manual lenses I bought new have either been stolen, left in a taxi(!), or sold.

The price of genuine grips is a complete rip off so I hope to get a good price for mine.
Justify a couple of pieces of moulded plastic and some contacts/switches costing £260
they are really expensive, but so is other stuff from Pentax which I just don't understand.
I'm one of the guys that like to keep accessories like that original (no after-market knock-offs) but some things are just ridiculously expensive.
Take off camera flash cord. Not only it doesn't come in one peace, each of them cost around £50 which bring total to £150. That's crazy if you compare it to similar products from Canon or Nikon which you can get for around £50
And as for the AC power supply ..... un-****ing-believable!!!
