I'm cureently doing a bit of research on lenses in general, and I was interested to see that some film lenses remain on the Japanese market. Maybe this explains why batches of 50mm f1.4 lenses keep appearing.

But also the SMC Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 is still listed as well, so if you want one perhaps it could be ordered via a friendly UK dealer.

To special order, how about the SMC Pentax-FA* 600mm f4, just the thing if you want to lug around a 7kg lens!
Best regards, John

If you need to ask, you can't afford it.

Dan

Although it would be nice to know, I've got 50 quid or so knocking about...
K-3, a macro lens and a DA*300mm...

A mere lightweight compared to the Sigmonster at 15.7 kg. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0801/08013101sigma250500.asp

But I wouldn't want to carry either of them.

If I could afford the Pentax I could afford to pay a porter to carry it for me

Not great as a 200mm lens, I think some of those are slightly smaller.

Lenses like these are pretty much outside my requirements...

I sometimes look at the websites of kakaku.com and pcbomber, and yes, there is a pretty good selection of lenses still out there... I have a Japanese colleague in my office (I work for a Japanese company) who would duly oblige if I added a lens to his shopping list...

My japanese isn't too good , but on this page - http://kakaku.com/camera/ - halfway down, there's a K10D, with a gold crown and a '1st' next to it, followed by a Canon 5D (Silver crown, 2nd), then a 40D (bronze, 3rd). Does this mean bestselling, or best user feedback? Obviously good either way, but just curious.

Dan

P.S. I could probably stump up an extra £50 if we wanted to make a weekend of it.
