CS2 self inflicted problem!

I did a silly thing yesterday and now im in trouble.
A friend gave me his copy of elements 5 as he upgraded to CS3
I already run CS2 but being an inquisitive guy i decided to load it onto my computer and have a look at what it offered.

Well here is what i managed to accomplish.
After loading it on i found Adobe Bridge in CS2 would not open
It keeps telling me i have a licencing restriction and i need to install and launch another adobe application before i can use it.
Everything else in CS2 works fine its just picking on Bridge for some reason.

Ok i said i will just delete Elements and see if that helps.
Damn. Still no good.

Ok i will reload CS2 over the top of my current version.
Damn, Damn. Still no luck

Attempt #3 I will backup all my plugins and other bits and pieces (PITA) uninstall CS2 and do a complete re-install.
Damn, Damn, Damn. Still no luck. (hair being pulled out in clumps)

So i am assuming the problem is in my registry but i don't want to go playing around in there for obvious reasons.

I think this may be a job for Super Matt. But if anyone has an easy fix for this problem i'm all ears. Thanks.

Moral of this story is you don't get nothing for nothing

Did you set a System Restore Point prior to installing? Do you have a System State backup taken before the installation of Elements? Either should correct the problem (assuming you're on a PC).

Did you really delete Elements, or uninstall it? If you deleted it, you may find that re-installing it, then uninstalling it will remove the registry clash. Did you get any error messages in either the first Elements install, or anything subsequently to do with Elements?

I uninstalled it through add and remove programs. And recieved no errors during the original install. Elements worked fine after the initial installation. It wasn't until i attempted to use bridge that i found the problem,
Its very frustrating as i believe i have done all i can too resolve the problem. Well everything short of a complete re-format But i am sure there is a way around it. I hope

Have you tried cleaning the registry of non-connected entries?
A well-respected program is "ccleaner" from http://www.ccleaner.com/

It is free and if you can easily and efficiently clean the registry and it also safely performs other operations.

System restore points are usually set automatically, either on a scheduled basis or by the software install. It would be worth lookiing to see when your last one was.

I downloaded and ran the cleaner (nice prog) But it didn't resolve my problem i'm afraid Thanks.

System Restore should be the answer. However I have only found it to work satisfactorily in 50% of the cases when I have used it.
