Crow - 31mm Limited

Went out and about last weekend with just the 31mm & 77mm Limiteds, kind of 'out of my comfort zone', but wanted to get some practise with them before I use them on a wedding!

This little fella was making a racket so wondered how close I could get to him to take a shot, then realised that he might be injured as i got right to within 2 feet!

Was tricky trying to get the exposure right as it was a very sunny day, and I don't normally get much success shooting black animals, but I am quite pleased with this one.

Also, just started shooting in RAW and doing some PP myself, so please let me know what you think!

You managed to get damned close to use the 31mm.

Thanks. Not really sure if he was injured, or maybe just a youngster dazed or possibly heat exhaustion but he didn't seem worried by me being there and made no effort at all to fly off!

Got close enough at one point that I was worried that he might peck the lens! So considering it was the 31mm Limited, thought it best to back off!

I think you could usefully make this rather brighter. Doing so will wash out the ground, but it will bring out detail in the plumage.

Hi George, now that I've viewed it on my PC screen, it does look a lot duller than it did at home. I am confused, so have posted a seperate thread to try and help. Thanks all for the comments guys, they are helpful!

This bird is black after all! On my screen it looks great with a good range of tones on the feathers, especially the back.

I think the only improvement would have been eye contact.
