Criticism welcome

Here is a shot that I like from a recent holiday. Please offer any criticism or comments.

Nice shot Peter. What is the blue inlay in the gate is it stone or Metal :
I think i would have cropped out the right hand side the sky is very blown out and the out of focus sea. Its a shame as it would have made it a great shot.

Really nice Peter. Try crop the water/sky away - and lets see it again!

Ok I will have a go tonight at losing the right hand side.....I quite liked the oof sea, and did try to darken the blown sky but it didnt look right.

I will get the Adobe scissors out later.

I agree with Nimitz. I find the sea, sky and oof plants distracting.

I quite like the composition as it is, it gives you a very good sense of place. Without the sea etc, you wouldn't know anything else about the ironwork. I get the impression it was in a villa, by a balcony overlooking the sea.

It all depends on what the point of the picture was. If it was purely as a study of the ironwork, then it probably falls a bit short. As a location shot, I think it works.

I agree with Dan, leave it as it is and it screams out "cool villa balcony on a halcyon day!"

I like it - if the sky had been a bit darker then it'd be a very good shot.

I like it but I think it would be better without the OOF vegetation
