cracked screen on opti s6

I brought a opti S6 in August this year, and last week found it with ink leaked into the screen. The camera starts up fine, and seems to work as normal. But you can only see white and black on the screen. I took it into the shop I brought it from, and they say it has been crushed (I don't think it has, nor can it have been, it happened whilst on my desk) as a result they won't return it under warrenty for me. The best they can offer is to send it to a repair centre and have a new screen fitted, approx cost £100. Any suggestions???

Why not return it direct to Pentax and see what they say?

The "ink leaked into a screen" effect is exactly what a fractured lcd/tft screen looks like (You should have seen the screen of the laptop one of our service engineers dropped from the top of a large back-hoe loader!). It sounds like the diagnosis of the camera being accidentally crushed may be correct.
