Sorry , His Nibs is watching the golf on BBC 2 so I didn't get to see Countryfile this week. What about the pictures?

Well, they were being held-up as being of good quality.

I didn't agree & wondered if anyone here had an opinion.

Ah. Normally I would have watched it, but with golf on there is no contest, even if he spends much of the time watching the inside of his eyelids while it is on .

Maybe someone else saw it and can chip in.

Yes, it was a Hasselblad, I went to see Ian Lawson's exhibition at Rheged near Penrith, it is on until this Friday I think. The prints there were very dramatic at size, and I really enjoyed them. I've heard a comment that the colours were not manipulated, the shots were done with film however some of the reds do look very vivid and there is quite a use made of selective focus - what were your thoughts Roger?

I have just watched Countryfile on computer. (try searching for BBC iplayer, then countryfile-for those that haven't got it saved as a favourite)

All photographs will be liked by some and not by others-opinions are personal.

I don't know the photographer but I believe that he has some undertaken a lot of work with a shepherds in Cumbira, as well as documenting a shepherdess, and I think he has some books published.

My thoughts on the images as shown on t.v. we're that they appeared grossly over-manipulated. The colours looked over saturated to the extent of all nature / reality had gone. Some of the figures, human & sheep , looked as though they had been cut & pasted. But not photographically, I mean CUT & PASTED!!!!

I've just glanced at the book site, &other colours look to be no different to those I saw on t.v. Last evening.


My opinion only of course.
Others are, obviously, available.

Roger, I know what you mean. I don't like the colours in those photos on the website either. It all looks very artificial to me. They may have been shot with film, but there has clearly been work done to them.

Sadly that seems to be what is expected nowadays. I see it all the time on the BBC website, and on the Guardian and other sites too. There was a slide show on one of them not long ago of winning entries in some competition or other and every one of them looked so over-manipulated and unreal.
