Copyright Infringement? EU proposes new legislation

Not too far from that in america today,

Most cameras above pocket cameras banned at events such as concerts. Even if a concert is held in a free public venue and is uncrowded (ones camera does not get in way) video still only permitted to be less than one minute. Most camera outfits banned at most professional sports, unless one has a press pass for on field use only.

Start taking photographs at public parks with any minor in the viewfinder then one is subject to all sorts of goodies. in america it is much like a police state, not much different from North Korea

I need a new hobby. Owning a camera is becoming taboo and a liability.

National Trust tried it on a while back, claiming they owned the copyright of all their property so any pictures taken on their property belonged to them. They gave up that nonsense as it was completely imposable to police and nobody took any notice.

I don't think we have anything to worry about, as has been said already we don't copy the item only the reflected light and that light does not belong to them! If anything, we can complain that their building(or whatever) is robbing us of the light in the first place.
Nobody is going to get rich trying to chase royalties from me and anyway I doubt if they will even know my photos exist in the first place.

I think there will be a lot more of this nonsense from the press over the next year or two. Its just a hearts and minds exercise to upset people in the run up to certain referendum that might be in the pipeline.

It's all well and good banning cameras everywhere, but many photos/Vlogs etc to social media get taken with camera 'phones, many of which I reluctantly have to say give exceptional image quality.

I've been asked in London - very nicely - if I would not take photos near a railway station - and yet all around me were people taking pictures with 'phones doing the same thing as I was. When I questioned that point, I was met with 'I'm told no cameras, and they're 'phones'. This sort of nonsense goes on all the time. It's even more daft, as I simply moved further away, swapped lenses and still got the images I wanted!

It's all a bit George Orwell.
