First bug shot with the 77 - not sure of the exact species but I think she was a fitting model

It's a hover-fly, most likely a Drone-fly, but they're often difficult to identify unless you get seriously macro on them and can see the wing veins

Did you use spot focus and then re-compose the shot? It looks like you only just missed the focus point on the fly's eyes, which are usually the best place to focus on to get the rest to fall into place.

I do like the composition especially as it looks like the light wasn't helping you.

You're quite right, I did spot and recompose and my focus was a bit off (it was raining and a bit windy, that's my excuse ) so I might have a little play in PS and see if I can sharpen it a little. Glad you liked the composition - took me ages to decide where to take the crop from.
