Conch shell

Playing around today with the sun shining through a conch shell.

Interesting little set - the 3rd and 4th are rather "canyon like" , rather nice

3rd and 4th would make really good subjects for focus stacking.

I tried that in HeliconFocus but the results were not great, I think it was because the software needs to identify sharp edges and there aren’t sufficient here at the different focal planes. In live view the focus peaking didn’t work either for the same reason so I used minimum aperture and guessed the steps but it came out less clearly than a single shot.

Well, only about 1 in 10 of my ideas work!

Great subject matter, Rob - I love the smooth abstractness of the first image, and the intriguing shapes and shadows of 3 and 4.
