Concentration

Trying out some processing and would like to have some comments on that,
all other comments are appreciate too of course.

Was made at the kids party of my younger brother.
She was flirting with me saying saying I was so cute and wished she had a big brother like me
She was so cute ^^

I like the image it shows a keen eye BUT it is a bit over exposed and lost detail

Tip under expose is better as you might be able to retrieve the dark area of the image.

what was the light meter set on ??

good focus on the eye,great expression and fine composition.it is overexposed in some areas which is a shame as i think those areas are too burnt out to capture the detail.

I wanted to place more focus on the eyes and I indeed clipped the photo on purpose because I thought that would work well by making it more interesting.

ps. she was wearing a white skirt, I don't have to tell you it wasn't white when she left

I was trying to make it bright and vibrant without losing any important details and so by clipping the highlights I hoped to make the appearance she is in a world of her own.
Apparently it didn't work

From here I don't mind Roy although I'm a bit more careful with this photo because the girl isn't part of my family and I don't want an angry mom after me
But Like I said members here don't have to worry, you've my trust.

Roy the problem with the processing you did is you move the focus from the eyes away to the ring she is painting. If you move the focus with a lens that wouldn't have been a problem but now the whole image is soft.
If it was just her face I would have liked it but not now.

This is lovely. I really like the natural, un-polished feel: hair a bit awry, focus on something else other than the photographer. Unconscious (apparently) of the camera.

Kids' pictures are best when they're basically unposed, I think.

Thank you Andrew and I agree with you. I've a few staged shots from kids but they aren't that great it's the moment where they are themselves that you need to capture.
I was also helping them the whole time so was covered in paint as well in the end but it was water-based so I and the the camera didn't mind.

Roy I've another version ready that isn't clipped however Deviantart where I load them on doesn't work so well at the moments so need to try it a bit later. I hope that one fall more in the taste with everyone.

Finally it works, here is a less clipped version.

It is really a study in a child's concentration .

I know you wanted the emphasis on the eyes BUT the patches of paint that have escaped from where they should be, show her determination and concentration. You can sense the tension in her as she works

I know what you mean Ti and I agree fully but I chose for the easy way to get a finished photo.

With the unedited I hate the red glow in the bottom left corner and the red tip of something so I would polish that away but I wasn't planning to put so much effort into it also I've the colours of her grey shirt to consider and that would mean another kind/form of PP altogether because that orange glow wouldn't work so well.
What you see now is only 2 minute work at most and it's only just to see if you guys or galls like the effect.

Ti I've taken up the challenge and I'll see what I can do with the full version, just applied the same effect and it seems to work somehow.

I think I understand the look you intended to create for the first, and it is probably my favourite. It might work well as a poster. The last one is fine as well. Processing aside, it's a good study anyway for me.
