Hello

Just received news of this competition and thought I would share it..

Photography Competition launched for National Community Rail Weekend

The South Pennines Rail Partnership is holding a Photography Competition, as part of the National Community Rail Weekend celebrations. Community Rail weekend held on the weekend of 17th and 18th May celebrates the role that rural railways play in the local community. This year in the South Pennines, there will be a series of events run that will encourage people to explore the area (all accessible by train). There will be FREE guided walks, music trains, music festivals and a film!

There will be judging for the photography competition in three age groups:

• Under 12’s
• 12 to 17 year olds
• Adults

The judges will be looking for the very best, original images of The South Pennines area, accessible by rail. A first prize of a free rail travel ticket for Northern Rail will be given to the winner in each age group, and there will be runner up prizes of family tickets to Standedge Visitor Centre, and the new Huddersfield Narrow Canal Tow Path guide. Short-listed entries, runners up and winners in each age group will form part of a photographic exhibition at Standedge Visitor Centre.
Photographs can be in colour or black & white and each person can submit up to five entries but all entries must be submitted before the closing date of 30th May 2008. The full rules and conditions of entry can be seen on www.southpenninesrail.co.uk

Good Luck!!!!
