Very impressive stuff Mike. The detail and tones in the tail feathers in your first shot is amazing. Excellent all-action pose too (it reminds me of a line in Top Gun: "I'll hit the brakes and he'll fly right by!").
I thought that 60-250 was supposed to be slow at focussing? Certainly doesn't look like it from this evidence!

These were with the Sigma 100-300mm f4 Tim .. it is quite a bit faster focusing than the Pentax 60-250mm that I used last week at the same place.

Nice picture Mike. I like the slight bluriness on the wingtips, and the shape (poise ?) of the bird is quite dramatic.

Mike, can't get the info up, I see you used the Sigma lens what body was it please and if I can be a real pain the aperture and speed would be handy.

I'm slightly envious - but I don't have the equipment to get a shot like that .
