I was just wondering what the collective noun is for PCSOs? (Not that I've ever seen more than one at a time)

And how that noun would be adjusted by the arrival of a policeman?
Lurking is shirking.!

Around my way they always patrol in pairs ...

But there is one pair who do not seem to get on to well and they walk down the street 5 metres apart!

Since they have been nicknamed penguins, the collective noun can be based on that...but as you have a flock of birds, does that apply to penguins as well?

While we are at it, we can think of a collective noun for the Highway Officers (the ones without power of arrest...), called Wombles by Mr Clarkson of Chipping Norton

That's because one can read and the other can write.

Poor maligned PCSOs. They came about because of the publics desire for more bobbies on the beat. Personally I think bobbies are best placed actually solving crime rather than randomly walking the streets. And that probably means spending time at the station. What are the odds of randomly chancing upon a crime in progress?
