Hi All,

This chap was sat in the tree out side the in-laws house over christmas just begging to be snapped.

C+C please (especially on the colour balance of the tree against the off white of the bird, it looked a lot green in the flesh so I tweaked to the colours to try and recreated it) ta.

All taken with the tammy 70-300 at or close to 300 and cropped in ps along with the colour tweaks

Love the first and like the second but the last two are not so pleasing for me.

1/ the composition is great and I do not have a problem wit the green it looks fine on my monitor.

2/ like this less than 1 because the lack of detail in the white feather is more noticeable and not counteracted as it is in one with the tree detail.

3/ I find the white light spots distracting and also the lack of tail.

4/ just find the attitude of the bird very unhelpful in this one although this has the best detail in the feathers - so well taken but not so appealing to view.

The first one is my favourite. I think the composition is good, perhaps you could have cropped a little more from the top (just a suggestion) but it almost has an air of comedy to it
The colour balance looks fine for all the shots on my monitor.

I agree the first shot is the best. I'd make it a square crop (but then I rather like square crops )

The sharpness of the eye is better in the 3rd and 4th, I presume just because you pulled back from 300 a bit for those. But nevertheless it's the first one for me too. The 2nd one is almost as good but the green seems a bit overdone in that one (slight green tint on the edge of the bird's yellow plume). The first one is a lovely 3/4 profile portrait
