Cobra 700AF with K100d

I have done a search regarding old flash guns on DSLRs and have a good understanding of issues with voltages etc.

I have a Cobra 700AF (Pentax dedicated) that measures 4.5v on a volt meter. Has anyone else used one of these of a Pentax DSLR? Any tips, advice etc?

You'll find that the Cobra probably supports M, A, and TTL flash.

Current Pentax DSLRs support M, A, and P-TTL
They don't support TTL at all.

Sooooo, although it will function, you won't get fully automated metering of P-TTL (the preflash variety). It depends on what you intend to do with it as to whether that's a problem.

My website doesn't really exist. I only really have the domain for e-mail hosting/forwarding. It's something I'm gonna sort out at some point in the future but that's a long way off.

Pentax Dedicated? I have two words for that statement:

I tried a Cobra flashgun once (dont ask me which model) it had all the pins for my MZ7 and 5n but niether camera knew it was there, yet a very kind second hand dealer tried it on an MX and hey presto, I also have (currently) a Sunpak 888 dedicated?, my MZ7 doesnt, know its there, niether does my istD or K10D, but my recently demised MZ5n said "hey lets go party and take some pics"?????

Third party flash? forget it, save your pennies and invest in PENTAX

Just to report the Cobra is recognised by the K100d, just have to do my own metering (kinda used to that though). It's okay, better than the built in flash but I'll definitely be getting a AF360 asap.
