Mike, that would be really excellent . If you could try it when you can and let us know some results it would be greatly appreciated.I have a Sigma 58mm achromatic macro filter and some step down rings so can try it on my DFA 100mm macro later if you want Amin.

Amin, if I understand it correctly you want to use a close up filter on your macro lens so that you would get a even more close up photos right?
You could use your Pentax 1.7 tc, it would increase your macro from 1:1 to 1:1.7
You can also reverese mount your 50mm lens, they have both a 49mm filter thread I believe, you will get 1:2 then and if you also use your TC that would be 1:3.4
If you want to go further buy a M 28mm on ebay, they are quite cheap. You will get 1:3.6 reversed on the 100mm and with TC that would be 1:6, I believe that would be enough 6 times magnification or not?

That's an idea, I haven't tried the 1.7xTC on the 100mm macro lens. Will try that. As for reversing the lens I tried some time ago, got even the reversing rings and the coupling ones, but its just too bothersome and tricky. Didn't bother to try again.Amin, if I understand it correctly you want to use a close up filter on your macro lens so that you would get a even more close up photos right?

But now you saying about the TC I think that might even work, going to try it

okay good luck with you TC, I've a 2x TC and that one works fine with the 100mm.
btw I said reversing but I meant stacking, so reverse mounting your lens on top of the macro lens. The reverse lens acts like an high quality close-up filter so it's a budget solution.
But I believe that your TC will do the job or was you planning for something extreme?

No, nothing extreme, just experimenting , its just my boring mind trying to find ways of entertaining okay good luck with you TC, I've a 2x TC and that one works fine with the 100mm.

Do such things exist that would be suitable for 100mm macro lens? And what are they like?
I found this thread from Mattmatic where there was a brief discussion about it, but as it was from 2003 I was wondering if things have progressed further, besides Matthew asks here for a close up filter for a non macro lens to achieve what a 100mm macro does.
Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Just wanted to have a feel about it.
Thank you
Amin
