Hey folks,

Been a hardcore Pentaxian for years but Sony have finally lured me in with price drops on the A7II, eye AF etc. Ishoot almost everything with a 50mm and the pricing of the new D-FA is looking pretty eye-watering. So it's all up for grabs!
Until I've had a week or so to put the A7 through its paces this is all tentative, but I'm looking at the following prices:

K-1 body: £1000
(boxed with all accessories, shutter count approx 20k, a few cosmetic marks but excellent working order)

K-1 battery grip: £90 (£75 if bought with body)
(boxed, mint with Pentax battery)

DA* 55mm f1.4: £325
(Boxed with hood, pouch etc. V.Good condition)

Tamron 70-200mm f2.8: £325
(boxed with pouch, hood, caps etc. Good condition. Aperture lever guard is missing, doesn't effect operation)

Tamron 17-35 f2.8-4 ultrawide: £150
(good condition, caps only)

Will add photos at some point soon, or on request for a specific item. All prices include insured shipping, and can discount for multiple items. Payment by Paypal ideally. There's some other stuff too but that's the vast majority at the moment! Will be keeping my trusty old K5II body though

Feel free to message me or comment below if you're interested or have any questions, rather sell here than have to put it on eBay...

Is the da.55 usable on full frame?

I use mine on the K1 - very happy with the results, occasionally there's some very minor vignetting and the corners are probably a little on the soft side, but both of these are minor and the overall quality of the lens is superb.

Far beyond usable - it's absolutely the finest lens I've ever used! I shoot 90% of my work with the 55mm on the K-1, from alternative fashion to weddings to street and landscape, and it's utterly incredible. I'm not saying this just to sell it, if you can find one at a price you can afford you should absolutely grab it.

However it's really important to treat it as an f1.6 lens! At 1.4 it's soft and dreamy and generally not that great, but 1.6 is already razor sharp with pretty much no aberrations. I think reviewers tend to test wide open and then jump down to f2 or 2.8, so the reviews make it seem like a worse performer at wide apertures than it really is!

I've not had any trouble with vignetting, generally. Due to the sensor physically moving around, you'll occasionally get a soft or dark corner when the Shake Reduction is working very hard and close to the limit of its travel. Doubly so if you use the hood, which is designed for crop. But otherwise the vignette is no worse than most other fast primes in most situations.

I have DA*55 and the SMC-F 50. I prefer the 55 on the K-1. I think the contrast is better and it has the bonus of being weather resistant etc.

I did some tests on the 55 and found I could get a bit of vignetting in the extreme corners with the right aperture and focus distance combination. IIRC it occurred at f1.4 and infinity. Removing the hood removed the problem. I trimmed down a hood and the issue is gone. Basically I removed the rubber bump protector from the front of hood and trimmed off about 6mm. The rear of the rubber bump protector now reaches the start of the conical section of the hood.

Another voice of praise for the 55mm, I didnít use it for very long as I ended up with a 43mm, but the 55mm was stellar on the K1, you almost wonder why Pentax havenít released some of the DA glass that we know only need a minor tweak to be excellent on full frame. (new lens good or removal of the baffle on the 60-250).

Is the DA*55 still available?

Hey folks, update - my A7Ii system arrived and ok, I confess....I've been seduced to the Sony dark side. The battery life sucks and the image quality is a noticeable step down, but for critical wedding shoots the focusing is like witchcraft! Keeping the K-5II as a second body though

Everything in the first post is available for sale (though a few people have got first refusal on the battery grip). I'll get the studio lights out and do a proper session photographing everything, along with a detail description of condition etc.

If anything doesn't sell on here it'll go on eBay next time they have a £3 max selling fee offer, so if you're interested let me know sooner rather than later!

BUMP! The 55mm has now arrived safely with HarisF1, so that's gone. K1 is still up for grabs.

Surprised the 17-35mm hasn't had more interest, they're pretty rare and damned good for the price. Was tempted to try and adapt it to Sony!

I've got a spare hood for the 55 that might be suitable for this kind of modification.
