I wouldn't mind paying if the lessons are giving not by the members but by someone who's profession it is to teach photography but then all the support for it should also be done by the forum and not by the members.

Off course but this is all done in the name of helping your fellow forum member, if you need to pay money to do that then i think it wouldn't work.there is a problem.

a few years back I decided I wanted to take back something that was wrongfully taken from me. An Education. I had gr 8 and a number of learning disabilities, and a child hood that if written down, would have to be published and filed in the "Horror" section of any bookstore. I am self taught. I started my own business. I found myself financially able to afford college. I had found this forum, and started posting regularly. My main interest at the time was to simply post something every day, to get in the habit of writing, daily. I knew I had to take my biggest weakness and deal with it if I was to stand a chance of getting into college. Writing. Between my poor spelling, poor penmanship, short attention span, and multitude of other problems I was never good at putting thoughts on paper. I wound up eating out of garbage cans at one point in my life, because I could not write and would not steal. I not olny got into college and got straight a's, for photography and marketing, I was the only student ever that was already running a photography business and been published in magazines. I needed those papers with the A's on them for reasons I don't expect others to understand. Spent thousands on them.
People here put up with my constant posts with bad spelling, poor grammer, occasional rants and other ocd bs.
Being here helped me work on my one real achille's heel.
I get help when I ask for it. and even friendship. I travelled acroos the country with my family and a member here even helped us out with organizing our visit to thiewr city. I never got tosend them the bottle of bluebeerry wine I bought for them in PEI, because our teenager drank it while we were out, and put the bottle back on the wine rack...lol! but I hope to one day thank them properly... we'll be in thier province again, I'm sure of it.
There is no business advantage for me to be here, I don't make money off anybody here.
there is no reason to be here except to enjoy the forums, the good and the bad for what they are and to minglr with the people, for me anyways.
but if there was some way to help out and contribute here, I'm happy to do it....
I would not refuse help them make some needed money to keep the wheels greased and the machinery in motion, in a mannor of speaking.
I get a lot. I'll be writing an artical for them soon, and if it is good enough, and they put it in the pay only section, I'm happy for them. I kinda owe something after all the things I get...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Do you owe it to the members or to the mangers of the forum, it's probably a bit of both.I kinda owe something after all the things I get...
The only differences is that you're talking about an article now and i'm talking about an initiative with the hope that members will help other members in a more structured way to improve and learn new things about photography.
An article requires only that you read but the other requires that you take part of it and since you're putting time and energy in it for free it would be very strange that you have to pay for it yourself... it actually should be the other way around, the ones helping should get paid
I'm not saying writing an article is not helpful but because the other requires active members it should be stimulated to anticipate so a limitation that it's only for paying members isn't that stimulating and also only a far smaller group can contribute then.

You're forgetting that members help each other all the time, it's nothing new. You also have several people on here who teach photography to groups, me included, and I know that to get something like what you have in mind right it needs to be done in the right way.
Best regards, John
