Can anyone help me with Circular Polarising filters please for my K20. I need them with a thinner frame to prevent Vignetting which I experienced with my previous camera when using the normal grade ones. I am a bit confused as to which ones I need to buy and any links to sites showing what I need would be a great help...price is an issue, so nothing too expensive would be helpful. Sizes 55 and 77mm please. All advice greatly appreciated as always. Many Thanks

B+W and hoya make slim ring filters for wide angle lenses, not cheap though.
don't know of any "budget" filters that are thin.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Is it "slim ring filters" that I have to ask for? Thanks

One way to keep the cost down is to look as a filter system such as Cokin P or Z system, then you will only need one filter to cover both sizes. The downside of the system is that you can't use your built in hood, however most systems do come with their own hoods as extras.

The other aspect to consider is how often you will use the filter. I have the Cokin P system with a Circular Polarising filter and it works very well on 52mm and 62mm. I am actually going to try it today on 77mm.

The Z system is larger and more suited to extrime wideangle. I will be testing at 16mm.

Just google 'Cokin'.

Ray, I wouldn't buy those to be honest.
The lens you will put it on cost a lot so it's worth to put a high quality filter on it or else you will most like degrade the quality of your photos, even those high grades do that.

Get B+W or Hoya, they are the best and worth the money.
I like B+W since the rings arent make of aluminium but of brass so they don't stick or get stuck like other filters do.

Yes you can turn them, i believe all do to be honest.
It's worth to get the coated ones. i've a b+w pol mrc for my macro and it's on it 24/7 so the bit more protection and repelend against dirt and moist is welcome.

Agreed. However, everyone forgets (or does not know) that HELIOPAN are just as good. Same Schott (Zeiss) glass, same brass mouns, same superb construction and materials and also German made.

Yes, Heliopan as well, although we don't often see them around.
