Choosing a film type

Ok, just so we are clear, despite not being a infant, I have never used a film camera.I have picked up a Pentax A3000 as a by product of buying the A 50mm 1.7 that it came with.I intend to give the camera to a friend but would like to put one film through it first for fun.Is there a type of film that would be forgiving or best suited to this camera.Many thanks for any pointers. Oh and just as importantly,where should I get the film developed? Thanks

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
